The Bear, the Bunny and the Butterfly.

Tomas, the Bear, was a very sick bear. He had to stay in bed all the time and rest. Tomas missed doing things that he did before he was sick. He missed walking through the woods with his friends, Jilly, the bunny and Tori, the butterfly. He got very lonely in his room. Jilly and Tori visited him many times a day to check on him. Jilly was a good cook so she made him pies, casseroles, and his favorite...porridge with shredded cheese on top. Tori would bring Tomas hot chocolate and his favorite candies. Tori could fly quickly to pick up Tomas' medicine at the veterinary clinic in the big city. Tomas was very appreciative of his friends' help. Jilly decided to ask her dad, Grandpa Bunny, to make one of his special Apple Cinnamon Crunch pies for Tomas. His pies were the best far and wide. Tomas took one bite of Grandpa's special apple pie and his eyes lit up with delight! His tummy was so happy, he felt better for days.

This story is based on a real life situation. My partner, Tom, has had colon & rectal cancer for 4 years (Jan.2018-Feb 2022).. Beginning in Dec. 2021, he had to be confined to a bed. He is now a Hospice patient. Jilly the bunny is me. I cook for him all the time...anything he wants. My dad, (Grandpa Bunny) loves to cook and makes the best apple pies. He sends them to Tom, much to his delight.. Tom's daughter, Tara, (Tori the Butterfly) moved in last month (Dec. 2021) to help me take care of him. She is constantly running errands, getting groceries, picking up medicines and helping with his care while working a full-time job as a teacher. Tara also loves butterflies. She has a husband and two teenagers at home that she goes home to several times a week. We are all doing our best to give Tom (Tomas) the best care we can in the time he has left. Update: Tom passed away Feb.11, 2022
