A lifetime resident of Salem, Virginia, (USA) Julie Riffey found her love of art around the age of five. Her talent developed from childhood crayons and pencils to the oil, acrylic, and soft pastel paintings she produces today. She has an Associate Degree in Fine Art from Virginia Western College and in the past, has taught children's art classes for 7 to 10 year olds. The enjoyment of seeing artistic talent evolve in children is unparalleled. She hopes that she instilled a love of art in those children for a lifetime. Julie uses a variety of mediums: oil, acrylic, soft chalk pastel and pencil. She paints or draws landscapes, birds, animals, and portraits- all in the realistic style. Thank you Rosanne, for your nice comments on my artwork. I visited your site, as well, and concentrated on your flower photos, voting as I went. It is a wonderful compliment for a photgrapher like you to compliment my painted versions of the flowers you are so familiar with.

Julie, I just love this gorgeous oil painting of all the spring and summer beatuty of this lovely blanket of flowers, and great texture on these too, to even make them more realistic. Thanks for sharing, and welcome to our family of friends and artists in the Wisconsin Flowers and scenery group, as it is an honor to have you aboard.

Thank you Kathy. I am very sorry your mother passed away recently. I am glad this painting reminded you of her and her garden. My mother had a stroke on Christmas Eve, and she is in a nursing home and this was in rememberance of her love of flowers too. Thank you for stopping to look, comment and for the fav.

This caught my heart! My mom recently passed and she had a lovely garden at different times of her life. So, this really caught my attention, and you captured a lovely essence in your artwork. fav

Oh, I've dabbled... and that's exactly what it looks like, LOL! I'm much better with a lens than a brush ;)
Julie Brugh Riffey
Well, THANKS, Susan! That is a great compliment. Everyone has their "thing" and don't take away from your own wonderful talent in photography and digital imagery. I am glad you enjoyed this painting. If you like this type of thing, you might want to try dabbling with some painting or lessons one day in the future. It is really fun!

You are a master in your art. I wish I knew enough about oils to make intelligent observations but the fact that I think this is just divine will have to do ;)
