A lifetime resident of Salem, Virginia, (USA) Julie Riffey found her love of art around the age of five. Her talent developed from childhood crayons and pencils to the oil, acrylic, and soft pastel paintings she produces today. She has an Associate Degree in Fine Art from Virginia Western College and in the past, has taught children's art classes for 7 to 10 year olds. Thanks, Debbie. I draw and paint all kinds of subjects and people ARE more difficult, especially when they are portraits because they have to look like the subject. Thanks for the compliments. I appreciate your taking the time to comment!
Debbie Engel
Excellent job. People are not that easy to paint.

Thanks, Jane. I greatly admire your work and value your opinion! Yes, you are probably right about this look. This was a child from a Peruvian tribe that probably didn't see many photographers in her life.

An unusual fashion statement for my part of the world, but that expression of being pleased that someone noticed is very familiar. (Even though I think there is an air of "cool" about it!) Like how you captured that look on this exotic child.
